The Swedish Academy Of Realist Art is introducing unique courses for children and teenagers. The courses aim to teach young people the basics of drawing and painting in a fun and creative way. Each course runs for one week and pupils will receive training in traditional drawing and painting. We study value scales, proportions, composition, contrast and dynamics.The week will conclude with an exhibition of the young masters’ work and family and friends are welcome. Pupils will receive a diploma. No previous experience required.

Pernilla came back to the school this week to teach her renowned anatomy workshop, allowing students to dig deeper into the world of constructive anatomy.

Three of our teachers, Amanda Fletcher, Samuel Järnegard Fogelvik  and Sanna Tomac are participating in an exhibition at the  Salve Art Gallery in Leipzig, Germany.  (19th april-30th april)

We would like to let people know about the summer courses that we are holding. The summer workshops will give students a taste of what being a student at Atelier Stockholm is like and a larger understanding for art and realistic painting in particular. Göran Ståhle visited the school this friday to talk about the history of still lifes in art. Göran is a freelance art historian, museum guide and writer.

Alexander Novoselov came to the school this week to give a three day workshop in composition. Alexander is a teacher at the Russian Academy of Art in St Petersburg, where he also went as a student. During his studies he was honored as “Best Graduate of 2007”.

We had the privilage of having a great three day workshop with the sculptor Peter Linde last week before christmas. All the advanced students where to sculpt a portrait of the lovely Sara in wet clay. It was alot of fun and a really nice way to round of the year.

We had a visit from DICE (Digital Illusions CE) to talk to the school about their company and how art is used to help make their games. DICE is a swedish video game developer most famous for the Battlefield series and Mirrors Edge. Their latest game, Battlefield 3, has sold over 8 million copies since it’s release on October 25th 2011.
