We would like to let people know about the summer courses that we are holding. The summer workshops will give students a taste of what being a student at Atelier Stockholm is like and a larger understanding for art and realistic painting in particular. The beauty, creativity and high standards of craftsmanship that Atelier Stockholm stands for, will also certainly become an inspiration to students and energize them in their future artistic work.

Göran Ståhle visited the school this friday to talk about the history of still lifes in art. Göran is a freelance art historian, museum guide and writer.

Alexander Novoselov came to the school this week to give a three day workshop in composition. Alexander is a teacher at the Russian Academy of Art in St Petersburg, where he also went as a student. During his studies he was honored as “Best Graduate of 2007”.

We had the privilage of having a great three day workshop with the sculptor Peter Linde last week before christmas. All the advanced students where to sculpt a portrait of the lovely Sara in wet clay. It was alot of fun and a really nice way to round of the year.

We had a visit from DICE (Digital Illusions CE) to talk to the school about their company and how art is used to help make their games. DICE is a swedish video game developer most famous for the Battlefield series and Mirrors Edge. Their latest game, Battlefield 3, has sold over 8 million copies since it’s release on October 25th 2011.

We had Leo Sandberg come to the school last to give a lecture on production art for the entertainment industry and its potential markets for artists. Leo is an established artist who has created production art for TV commercials, ad campaigns, live action, CG and 2D features as well as for computer games, print, theatre and opera. Some of his clients include Tim Burton and Digital Illusions CE. He is also a teacher at Gotland University in the Game Development and Animation departments.

The annual Atelier Stockholm Halloween Party™ took place friday the 28th. Thanks to everyone who came and made it an amazing night!

Pernilla Persson came to Atelier Stockholm on thursday the 29th and gave an intensive two-day workshop in Dynamic Anatomy. Pernilla is an experienced artist and teacher who moves freely between drawing, painting and sculpture. The workshop focused on the constructive approach to anatomy.

In the  summer of 2011, Atelier Stockholm moved to a wonderful building in Bergshamra, Solna, Stockholm.  The building is called Bergshamra gård and is located in a beautiful national park by Brunnsviken, just 11 minutes from T-centralen.  We absolutely love our new home!!!
